Press Release Issued August 21, 2024
During summer months, Lincoln County residents face the annual challenge of reducing unnecessary water usage. With increasing pressures on our water resources during the summer months, it is imperative that residents take proactive measures to reduce unnecessary water usage. In light of this, the Mid-Coast Water Conservation Consortium (Mid-Coast Water) is urging all residents to embrace water saving practices to ensure the sustainable use of this precious resource. By making small changes in our daily routines, we can collectively conserve a significant amount of water.
Here are some water-saving strategies that residents can easily implement:
- Fix Leaks Promptly - Check faucets, toilets, and pipes for leaks and repair them.
- Use Water-Efficient Products - Install water-efficient faucet aerators, showerheads, and toilets. (Check with your water provider about the availability of free water conservation items.)
- Run Full Loads Only – Only use your dishwasher and washing machine with full loads.
- Turn Off Faucets When Not in Use – Be mindful of turning off faucets while brushing teeth or washing dishes by hand.
- Water Wisely - Water outdoor plants and lawns early in the morning to minimize evaporation.
- Sweep, Don’t Spray Driveways and Sidewalks- Instead of using a hose to clean outdoor surfaces, use a broom to sweep away debris.
Mid-Coast Water is committed to supporting residents in their efforts to conserve water and adapt to new conservation strategies. By working together, we can preserve our water resources for future generations.
